Data Indicates Shortage Of Alzheimer’s Specialists In North Dakota

(Bismarck, ND) — New data indicates that North Dakota has a shortage of Alzheimer’s specialists. The results of a recent study from the Alzheimer’s Association released yesterday found that there are 12 geriatricians in North Dakota specifically treating Alzheimer’s patients. To meet demand, the state would need an increase in specialists of nearly 140 percent. The health systems director at the Alzheimer’s Association says there are about 15-thousand people in the state living with the disease, a number that is expected to rise.
