State, County Officials Hearing Complaints About Impeachment Attack Billboard Ads

(Pierre, SD) — State and county officials say they’re receiving complaints about the legality of billboard attack ads targeted several House members serving on the committee investigating the impeachment of Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg. The Secretary of State’s Office and the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney have received formal complaints this week alleging Dakota Institute for Legislative Solution has violated campaign finance laws. The organization is behind the ads that accuse the lawmakers of obstructing the investigation into Ravnsborg’s actions surrounding a 2020 crash where he hit and killed a man with his vehicle. The nonprofit was formed earlier this month with the stated goal of advancing Governor Kristi Noem’s agenda.
