(Pierre, SD) — New restrictions are in place on orientations and trainings required for students at South Dakota Board of Regents colleges and universities. Governor Kristi Noem signed the bill regulating the teaching of Critical Race Theory into law yesterday. The new law says BOR universities and colleges can’t require orientations and trainings that are based on the concept of Critical Race Theory. Professors are not restricted from teaching the concepts in classes and the law doesn’t violate the First Amendment or academic freedom and intellectual diversity.
