Jaeger: Term Limit Petition Has Too Few Signatures

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger says a term limits petition submitted last month won’t be certified. Jaeger says the petition didn’t have enough valid signatures to be placed on the November ballot. He also indicated that several signatures were likely forged with a notary present. He also says that over 80 of the circulators “indicated” they were offered or paid bonuses based on the number of signatures they obtained, and signatures from out of state were included. Jager says thousands of signatures didn’t include the required amount of information to make them valid and that all violations will be reported to the Attorney General for investigation.
