Rapid City Hotel Sued For Allegedly Denying Services To Native Americans

(Rapid City, SD) — A Rapid City hotel is facing a lawsuit after being accused of denying services to Native Americans. NDN Collective President Nick Tilsen announced the federal civil rights class action suit yesterday against the Retsel Corporation, parent company of the Grand Gateway Hotel, capping off a march against racism, calling for the end of racial profiling. The suit is a response to comments posted on Facebook by Retsel Corporation president Connie Uhre, saying that Native Americans would not be allowed into the company’s businesses because she can’t tell “who is a bad Native or a good Native.” The comments have since been deleted.
