Noem Signs Main Budget Measures, No Movement On House Bill

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is giving her approval to several budget bills. Noem signed the main budget measures to fund the South Dakota government through the end of the fiscal year and the new year starting July 1st. No movement has been made on a House bill that would mean Noem would have to get approval from the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Appropriations before enacting any new federally-funded programs involving the new budget. Noem’s departing budget chief has warned that there would be logistical issues if that approach is taken.
