North Dakota Man Dies Following Rapid City Boxing Match

(Rapid City, SD) — A North Dakota boxer is dead following a Rapid City match. The Rapid City Journal is reporting that North Dakota Local Boxing Committee President Danny Pruned has ordered all affiliated gyms in the state to close for one day in memory of Laron Peoples. Peoples was a contender in the Elite Male Division of the South Dakota Golden Gloves boxing show Saturday night when he lost to Sheldon Wright. USA Boxing says a boxer “required medical attention” following the match and was taken to the hospital. The organization says the boxer died yesterday, but didn’t confirm his identity. Organizers for South Dakota Golden Gloves aren’t commenting on the death, which they say is under investigation.
