Bird Flu Confirmed in Kidder County Backyard Chicken Flock

(Kidder County, ND) — The North Dakota Agriculture Department is confirming that bird flu has been found in a Kidder County backyard chicken flock. The flock of over two dozen birds has been destroyed and the area quarantined. The State Veterinarian says the flock was on a rural hobby farm and the birds were typically sold locally. No birds had been sold recently or taken from the farm. Officials say a migrating wild goose is likely the source of the infection for the Kidder County flock.
