(New England, ND). — The Hettinger County Sheriff’s Office is lobbying the New England City Council for funding for a K9 program. The office is asking the council for money to purchase and train a narcotics detection K9. A drug enforcement agent with the Southwest Narcotics Task Force joined the sheriff’s office in a presentation to the council yesterday. The city agreed verbally to provide up to ten thousand dollars for the first year of the program, with the matter to be discussed further at the next meeting in May.
