Supporters Of Recreational Marijuana Legalization Ballot Measure Still Gathering Signatures

(Pierre, SD) — Supporters of a ballot measure proposing the legalization of recreational marijuana in South Dakota are still gathering petition signatures. South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws has been working to collect enough signatures to put the proposed repeal of state recreational marijuana prohibitions on the November ballot. The group needs at least 17-thousand signatures from registered voters, but an internal validation process shows they have only about 13-thousand-500 valid signatures. Drive-thru signature drives are planned in Rapid City and Sioux Falls as the May 3rd filing deadline.
