Huge Jump In South Dakota Syphilis Case

(Pierre, SD) — State health officials say there has been a huge jump in syphilis cases in South Dakota. Earlier this week, a Department of Health update showed cases had risen by nearly two-thousand percent from the five-year median of 13. Officials say 257 cases have been reported so far this year. Health leaders say cases of both chlamydia and gonorrhea are also up this year.
