(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild are officially extending their season. Jared Spurgeon scored a game-winning goal in the first 65 seconds of overtime to lead the Wild past the San Jose Sharks 5-4 at the Xcel Energy Center, clinching a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Kevin Fiala scored the game-tying goal halfway through the third period to send the game to an extra frame for Minnesota. Dmitry Kulikov and Matt Boldy also scored, while Spurgeon finished the game with two goals. The Wild are in third place in the Central Division with 101 points, just one point back of St. Louis. Minnesota is at Montreal tomorrow night.
