(Sioux Falls, SD) — A member of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra who has been part of the symphony for sixty years — Pat Masek — is retiring. Masek began with the orchestra in 1962 when she was 23 and played the flute. Five years later, she took on the responsibilities of the organization’s librarian — which includes finding the music the symphony will play the next season and determining whether it owns the music or has to rent it or buy it. Masek’s final concert will be April 30th. Then she says she’ll have more time to play the piano and spend time with her family.
