Prescribed Burn At Wind Cave National Park

(Rapid City, SD) — Folks might notice smoke and flames at Wind Cave National Park this week. Park officials are planning to burn more than one-thousand acres to help “lessen the threat of wildfires by reducing the fuel load.” The affected areas include an open ponderosa pine forest near the park’s headquarters. Officials say the smoke will be most prevalent along Highway 385.
