(Sioux Falls, SD) — Representative Dusty Johnson and a group of veterans are calling for more action and systematic change in South Dakota’s VA healthcare program. Johnson, several other elected officials, and dozens of veterans showed up at the South Dakota Veteran’s Council’s quarterly meeting yesterday morning in Sioux Falls. Those attending praised the removal of the former Sioux Falls Veterans Affairs director but said more needs to be done to address the needs of veterans. The acting director of the Sioux Falls campus says efforts are being made to bring down wait times for appointments. Johnson says the current challenge is to rebuild veterans’ confidence in the system.
