(Black Hills, SD) — Black Hills State University is continuing to plant trees after being recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation. The university planted a tree yesterday in honor of their 2021 Tree Campus Higher Education recognition. It had to meet several standards in order to receive the honor, including having an advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, and a dedicated annual budget, among other things. BHSU’s urban forest includes apple trees, Ohio buckeyes, and American elm.
