(Oglala, SD) — The Rosebud Sioux Tribe is releasing a statement regarding drug charges faced by Treasurer Stephen Denoyer the Third. Denoyer is accused of using methamphetamines at a hotel in Oglala over two years ago. RST President Scott Herman says their government office is “troubled by these allegations” but stressed Denoyer’s right to be presumed innocent. The RST statement also says Denoyer is entitled to all the civil protections included in the Indian Civil Rights Act. The Oglala Sioux Tribe is asking for more than 37-thousand dollars in restitution for damages.
