(Mandan, ND) — The levee protecting Mandan from flooding is set to be recertified to meet federal requirements. Officials have applied for grants to help pay for the over 19 million dollar cost of the project. The local cost would be reduced to 20-percent if the Lower Heart Water Resource District and the city of Mandan receive the Federal Emergency Management Agency Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant. The local cost will be assessed to Mandan property owners.
