(Bismarck, ND) — The Bismarck City Commission is considering adding hate crimes ordinances. Hate crimes would be added to existing simple assault, harassment, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct ordinances. The amended ordinances would take into account the victim’s race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and other relevant factors. Fargo and Grand Forks have enacted similar ordinances. A public hearing on the issue is set for May 24th.
