Former Rapid City Officer Charged With Theft

(Pierre, SD) — A former Rapid City police officer is facing a theft charge connected to his service as a school resource officer earlier this year. Matthew Hower is accused of stealing money from the petty cash box at Central High School in Rapid City. The South Dakota attorney general’s office announced yesterday that the 41-year-old has been charged with aggravated second-degree petty theft. The case is related to incidents last month and earlier this month while Hower was acting as a school resource officer for the Rapid City school district.
