November 2022 Election Ballot To Include Marijuana Legalization Question

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota voters will get another chance to decide on the issue of marijuana legalization. The Secretary of State certified petition signatures Wednesday, meaning the issue will return to the ballot in November as Initiated Measure 27. The signatures were submitted earlier this month by South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws. Nearly 80-percent of the signatures were validated on the petition proposing legalizing marijuana for personal use, as well as the ability to possess and cultivate cannabis by adults 21 and over.
