(Fargo, ND) — A North Dakota man is being sentenced to life in prison for the death of a foster child and the abuse of several others. The Justice Department announced the sentence on Thursday against Erich Longie Jr. of Tokio for charges including first-degree murder within Indian Country. Five-year-old Raven Thompson was found dead at Longie’s home on the Spirit Lake Reservation in 2020. The Forum reports Longie’s wife is set for sentencing on similar charges in August.
