ND Congressman Urging Passage Of EQUAL Act

(Minot, ND) — North Dakota Congressman Kelly Armstrong is urging his colleagues in the Senate to pass the EQUAL Act. The bill would eliminate the imbalance between how crack cocaine and powder cocaine distribution are federally prosecuted. Current federal guidelines impose the same sentence for distributing five grams of crack cocaine as for 500 grams of powder cocaine. The bill passed out of the House in September, but is being filibustered in the Senate.
