Advocates Voicing Concerns Over Minnesota Company’s Gold Mining In Rapid City

(Rapid City, SD) — Clean water advocates are rallying against mining in Rapid City. The Black Hills Clean Water Association is expressing concerns that the F3 Gold company’s mining near Pactola Reservoir will affect Rapid City water sources and Black Hills Recreation. Representatives for the U.S. Forest Service in South Dakota have come out saying the project is not mining, but rather a gold exploration project, and is no immediate threat to the water source. Still, there is speculation that the “exploration” effort would lead to mining in the near future.
