Beekeeping Amendment Would Allow Sioux Falls Schools To House Bees

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A proposed city ordinance would allow for Sioux Falls city schools and local universities to keep bees on their campuses. Sioux Falls city councilor Greg Neitzert is sponsoring an amendment to the current city ordinance to implement beekeeping on school property. He says that it’s the logical next step to the current rule allowing beekeeping on private properties in backyards. Neitzert calls it a great opportunity for students of all ages to not only learn about the benefits of beekeeping but also develop potential career skills.
