(Sioux Falls, SD) — The first case of monkeypox in the state is being reported out of eastern South Dakota. The patient is in his 30s and has been isolated as tests are being conducted at the Public Health Laboratory. South Dakota is now the 42nd state in the U.S. with at least one case of monkeypox. The virus is transmitted through close, intimate contact.
