Governor Candidate Smith Reveals Proposed Bills Had Noem Called Special Session

(Pierre, SD) — Democratic governor candidate Jamie Smith is revealing a set of bills that would have been proposed if Governor Kristi Noem had called a special session. Smith announced the proposals yesterday, including a bill that would have created exceptions to the abortion ban for rape and incest. Noem announced last week that she wouldn’t bring lawmakers back. She previously vowed to call a special session if the U.S. Supreme Court overturned federal abortion protections. Smith is the minority leader of the state House of Representatives.
