SF Council Advances Plan To Put Slaughterhouse Ban On November Ballot

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Sioux Falls City Council is advancing a measure that would put a proposed slaughterhouse ban up for a vote on the November ballot. Councilors voted last night to send the ordinance for a second reading. City Clerk Tom Greco validated a petition by Smart Growth Sioux Falls earlier this year to place the question on the ballot. The council is voting to certify the language of the question, rather than on the merits of the proposal.
