(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Board of Education is releasing a report on how it has dealt with state educational materials found to violate Governor Kristi Noem’s Critical Race Theory executive order. The report shows that only a small number of documents were found among thousands of state content standards, policies, trainings, and other K through 12 materials that included “inherently divisive concepts.” DOE officials say the flagged materials will be discontinued. Noem issued the executive order in April that prompted the review.
