(Fargo, ND) — The Pledge of Allegiance will no longer be recited at Fargo School Board meetings. The board voted to stop reciting it, citing diversity concerns and the phrase, “under God.” In response, Governor Doug Burgum released a statement calling for public schools and elected government groups to recite the Pledge. Citing other states, he also said his administration is working to create legislation that would guarantee the opportunity for the Pledge to be recited.
