(Pierre, SD) — A new poll shows that the majority of South Dakotans are opposed to a total abortion ban in the state. South Dakota News Watch sponsored the poll that questioned 500 registered voters. Nearly two-thirds of respondents say they want a statewide vote to determine South Dakota’s abortion laws. More than three-fourths of those polled says abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest. South Dakota’s trigger law banning all abortions kicked in following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June.
