(Bismarck, ND) — Authorities are investigating after North Dakota’s Workforce Safety and Insurance agency was hit by a cyberattack. Officials say the cyberattack happened in June. Evidence indicates the attacker got into personal information on over 180 injured workers through a WSI employee’s email account. Officials say the employee had noticed unusual activity on the computer after opening an email attachment. WSI’s help desk removed the computer from the state network and analysis found the “sophisticated phishing attack” was isolated to that computer and didn’t spread onto the state network.
