(Bismarck, ND) — Governor Doug Burgum and other state leaders are proposing state income tax reform. The flat tax proposal would “effectively eliminate” the state’s income tax for lower-income earners. Those with higher incomes would pay a one-and-a-half percent flat tax, down from a range between approximately two and three percent. Officials say the proposal would save taxpayers about 250 million dollars per year. No word on how the tax cuts would be paid for.
