(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins will not be getting their ace back this season. The team announced that starting pitcher Kenta Maeda likely won’t return to the mound in 2022. Maeda had Tommy John surgery in August of 2021, and the Twins were hoping he could pitch out of the bullpen in their September playoff run. Derek Falvey says that he doesn’t want to push Maeda too hard and jeopardize his health for the 2023 season. Maeda went 6-and-5 with a 4.66 ERA with the Twins in 2021.
