(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota officials are changing bird-flu-related policies. The State Board of Animal Health has changed its statewide ban on poultry events in favor of a county-level approach to halting the spread of bird flu. The ban still applies in counties where avian influenza has been confirmed and adjoining counties. The restriction currently applies to Cass County, where a bird flu case was discovered last month. Bordering counties Traill, Steele, Barnes, Ransom, and Richland are also under suspension. The ban will be lifted if no new cases are found 30-days after the last case was detected.
