Twins Hold Off Yankees

(Bronx, NY) — The Twins avoided a four-game sweep by beating the Yankees 4-3 at Yankee Stadium. Carlos Correa’s two-run home run in the eighth put Minnesota on top, and Michael Fulmer earned his third save after forcing Isiah Kiner-Falefa to ground out with the bases loaded for the final out in the bottom of the ninth. Griffin Jax earned his sixth win in relief, and Minnesota is now just a game-and-a-half behind Cleveland for first place in the AL Central. The Twins host the Guardians for a pivotal three-game series starting tonight. Dylan Bundy takes the mound in game one. In other Twins news, Byron Buxton was selected as the team’s nominee for this year’s Roberto Clemente Award.
