Sioux Falls Downtown Building, Land Tax Cap May Be Removed

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Sioux Falls City Council is considering a proposal to remove a cap on tax assessments for downtown buildings and land. The cap limits taxes on building values at 15-hundred dollars and land values at 200-dollars. The new proposal would create an additional tax to buildings with a value over a million dollars. Officials say the increased revenue would be put toward improvements to downtown services.
