(Pierre, SD) — A bridge on South Dakota Highway 34, east of Egan, will be dedicated next month in honor of U.S. Army Private Frederick Schroeder. The state Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting a dedication ceremony at the Madison City Armory on VanEps Avenue. Schroeder began his World War One tour of duty in 1918. He was killed in action that same year. The Big Sioux River Bridge will be dedicated in his honor on October 1st.
