Skaar Helps Propel NDSU Women’s Golf to Win at Jackrabbit Invitational

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Leah Skaar finished tied for first place to help guide the North Dakota State women’s golf team to its second win of the season at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Brookings Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bison put together rounds of 303, 301 and 300 for a three-round total of 904 to pick up the win. South Dakota State (303-310-299–912) finished eight strokes back in second place, while St. Thomas (310-316-306–932) rounded out the top three in third place of the six-team tournament.

Skaar (71-76-76–223) finished tied for first place with score of 223, including a season-low 71 in the opening round. She totaled a team-best nine birdies and added 32 pars over three rounds. Elise Hoven (77-77-71–225) came in third place with a score of 225 and tied a career-low 71 in the third round.

Jo Baranczyk (77-73-77–227) notched her first career top five finish coming in fifth place with a score of 227. Madi Hicks (78-75-77–230) came in tied for seventh place with a score of 230, while Catherine Monty (80-80-76–236) closed out the group in 16th place with a score of 236.

Ava Wallerich (86-75-78–239) carded a three-round total of 239 and finished tied for 19th place. Maddie Herzog (78-82-82–242) came in tied for 23rd place with a score of 243 and Cora Larson (82-77-84–243) posted a score of 242 and finished in 25th place. All three participated as individuals.

As a team, NDSU totaled a tournament-best 163 pars to go along with 25 birdies and two eagles. The average score over three rounds of play on the par 72 course was 80.16.

NDSU will be back in action at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational on Oct. 3-4 in Tacoma, Wash.
