(Brookings, SD) — The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol says they have intercepted 50 fake IDs headed to Brookings. Brookings police say some living in the town ordered the IDs for themselves and several underage friends so they could buy alcohol and get into bars. Police say there is always an uptick in fake IDs when students return to campus, but that the problem has gotten worse recently. Officers say people caught with fakes can face anything from community service to fines and jail time. An investigation is underway.
