Remember Fire Safety During Colder Months

(Dickinson, ND) — The prospect of colder weather has many people thinking about alternative heating sources like fireplaces and space heaters. Fire officials across North Dakota are issuing warnings about safety issues and proper use of space heaters which are the cause of many fires. Officials advise never leave a space heater unattended when it’s on, keep it clear of anything flammable and don’t plug it into an extension cord with other appliances. Fireplaces should have the flu and chimney inspected yearly and cleaned if necessary.
