(Duluth, MN) — The Northland Foundation is funding grants to increase awareness about missing and murdered indigenous women. The foundation announced yesterday that it is offering up to ten grants of 25-hundred dollars each for grassroots efforts to improve awareness about the issue. The foundation’s director of grant making says grassroots groups have done the most toward addressing the violent epidemic. The 2020 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Task Force reported that Native American women make up less than one-percent of the state’s population, but account for 15-percent of missing persons cases each month.
