(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s annual trick-or-treat event takes place this evening at the Governor’s Residence in Pierre. Governor Kristi Noem and First Gentleman Bryon Noem will host the festivities. They take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Governor Noem says they’re looking forward to seeing all of the children in their costumes.
Governor Noem is also offering safety tips for families this Halloween. She suggests trick-or-treating during daylight hours and taking a flashlight if heading out at night. Noem says adding reflective tape to children’s costumes and bags will help them stay visible. Y
oung children should be accompanied by an adult. The Governor also says candy should be inspected before it’s consumed.
