First Major Winter Storm of the Season Set for Midweek

(Bismarck, ND and Pierre, SD) — The first major winter storm of the season is set to impact the region late Wednesday through Friday.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of the region across the Dakotas and Minnesota starting Wednesday night and running through Friday morning. Some forecasts models are calling from anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow with localized heavier amounts and blizzard conditions possible as well.

Temperatures will likely fall well below average across the entire region. After the storm departs, much colder air will remain over the area with high temperatures only climbing into the teens over most of the state this weekend.

Stay tuned to the latest forecast if you have travel plans.
