NDFU State Convention set for Dec. 9-10 in Bismarck

(JAMESTOWN, N.D.) – North Dakota Farmers Union, the state’s largest farm organization, will kick off its 96th annual state convention on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Bismarck Event Center. The latest in farm technology, renewable fuel trends and the 2023 farm bill are among featured topics.

National Farmers Union President Rob Larew will update members on the organization’s Fairness for Farmers campaign, a nationwide effort to fight back against corporate monopolies and market consolidation in food and agriculture sectors. Larew will also keynote the Torchbearer ceremony on Saturday night, Dec. 10, where 19 youths will earn Farmers Union’s highest youth honor, the Torchbearer Award.

Members will also debate policy, set legislative priorities and elect officers (president, vice president and district directors). Agraria Mutual Group’s annual meeting, live and silent auctions, a malt contest, entertainment by dueling pianos and the musical group Too Old To Stand round out the two-day celebration. One lucky convention goer will also win a zero-turn Simplicity mower.

The convention is open to the public. A $70 registration fee is required ($50 early bird rate available until Dec. 2). Day care is also available. A youth convention for kids in grades 1-6 also runs simultaneously both days with youth prize drawings on Saturday night. To register for the convention, go to ndfu.org.
