(Chamberlain, SD) — A federal judge has ordered the Chamberlain School District 100-thousand-dollars to the family of a disabled child. The ruling requires the district to reimburse the parents for the costs of moving the child to a specialty care unit in Utah. The child, who is not identified and is now an adult, was moved out-of-state after the principal of Chamberlain High School told the parents CHS was not “the right setting.” The parents’ attorney intends to file a motion to have the parents reimbursed for attorney’s fees.
