(Pierre, SD) — Distracted driving remains a problem South Dakota despite a law limiting cell phone usage. Congressman Doug Bethel helped pass a law in 2020 that makes it illegal for drivers to text, take pictures or watch videos on their phone. Despite the law, data shows little change in the number of people killed or injured in accidents caused by distracted driving. South Dakota drivers are allowed to talk and hold a cell phone to their ear.
