(Oxbow, ND) — We’re learning more about the young woman who was killed while walking along I-29, north of the Oxbow exit, on New Year’s Day. Family members of 19-year-old Destinee Tuttle say the young girl was always smiling, loved horses, and supported many causes including raising awareness for missing and murdered indigenous women. Destinee was an enrolled member of the Santee Sioux Tribe and often went on long rides in honor of those causes. Investigators believe she was celebrating New Year’s Eve in Fargo and was in a car with someone before she got out and started walking along the southbound lanes of I-29.
