South Dakota State Wins FCS Championship

(Frisco, TX) — The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are FCS Championship for the first time in school history. The Jackrabbits beat rival North Dakota State 45-21 in the FCS Championship Game yesterday.

SDSU scored 24 points in the second quarter and kept the Bison at an arm’s length the rest of the way. Mark Gronowski passed for 223 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, and he added a score on the ground.

The victory broke NDSU’s streak of nine consecutive FCS championship wins. This is Coach John Stiegelmeier’s first championship win of his career.

The new FCS champs ended the season with a 14-and-1 record.
