(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem’s legislative priorities are focused on how South Dakota is thriving. Noem kicked off the 2023 legislative session yesterday with her State of the State address. She emphasized the importance of the state’s economy, protecting the state from foreign influence, and building stronger families. Noem began her speech say telling lawmakers that the state is thriving and strong. She also called South Dakota the freest state in the country. The governor pushed for tax cuts during her speech, especially the grocery sales tax. She also addressed the labor shortage and her opposition to vaccination mandates.
